Don’t Let Shattered Glass Get You Down - Get AMI!
Alberta is a great place to live, with breath-taking mountain views. but it can be tough on your vehicle. Between gravel roads, flying rocks, hailstorms, and extreme temperature swings, windshield and auto glass damage is often unavoidable. Many drivers are familiar with the frustration of hearing a rock strike their windshield or watching a small chip gradually turn into a costly crack. This is where AMI AutoGlass Insurance Coverage comes in!
AMI's goal is to replace that worry with peace of mind by helping drivers protect themselves from unexpected glass repair expenses. Many Alberta drivers are surprised to learn that windshield damage is often not covered under a standard auto insurance policy. If you only carry liability coverage, auto glass damage is generally not insured.
Even if you have collision or comprehensive coverage, most policies are issued with a limited glass endorsement or exclude windshield coverage to reduce premiums. The reason? It is expensive to have, expensive to claim and expensive to have on your insurance claims record for the next six years. In these situations, repairs and replacements are typically paid entirely out of pocket. If you are unsure what your current policy covers, a McDonalds Insurance Broker can review your coverage and help explain your options.
When it comes to AMI AutoGlass Insurance, it is a separate policy, where the premium is reasonable, claims costs are low and your insurance company doesn’t hold a claims history against you!

AMI AutoGlass Insurance works with numerous different approved auto glass centres in Alberta - simply visit or book with your nearest approved glass shop, and get up to three glass chips repaired at once for $25 (each chip after the first three are $12 each), or a windshield replacement for $50!
For vehicle owners with newer models, there is another important consideration. Many modern vehicles are equipped with Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), which use cameras and sensors mounted near the windshield to support safety features such as lane departure warnings, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, collision warning systems, emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, parking assistance, and more.
When a windshield is replaced, these cameras and sensors may become misaligned and require recalibration to ensure the systems continue to function correctly and safely. It is important to note that AMI does not cover ADAS recalibration costs. If recalibration is required following a windshield replacement, the vehicle owner will be responsible for this expense at the time the replacement work is completed - be sure to inquire with the glass shop performing the replacement before work begins to understand this cost.
